Police are appealing for CCTV and information after a woman was robbed in Thornaby.

At around 12:30pm on Monday 4th July a 71-year-old woman was walking along the path beside the River Tees when she noticed a male on his phone.

As she walked past the male, he pushed her from behind and
knocked her to the ground.  The man then demanded her phone, which she placed into her pocket before he demanded that she remove her trousers.

The woman didn’t remove any clothing and the man managed to take her phone before making off on a mountain bike.

The suspect is described by the victim as a white male, aged
17-20 years old, well groomed, with dark hair which was shaved at the sides and wearing a black jacket and sage green jogging bottoms.

Officers would make an appeal to anyone in the area around
the time of the incident, anyone who may have been walking their dog or fishing in the area, or any residents around the Richardson Road or Green Lane area who may have CCTV or dash cam footage which could assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective
Constable James Limon from Stockton CID on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident number 115585, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
