Officers investigating an incident in Macclesfield are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to get in touch with them.
At 11.18am on Tuesday 17 June, police were called to reports of an incident at the roundabout with the junction of Cumberland Street and Hibel Road.
Officers attended and found a van had collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, believed to be a man in his late 50s, sustained serious injuries and sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened. As part of these enquiries, a 32-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident.
The man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Simon Degg said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation into the full circumstances of this incident, and we have arrested one individual as part of our enquiries into what happened.
“We would urge any witnesses to this incident to contact us. The same goes for anyone who may have any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or any further information."
