Detectives are appealing for information and any witnesses after a 63-year-old man was found with significant injuries in Normanby.
The man was found shortly before midnight on Saturday 11 July on Ormesby Road, Normanby, close to Cricket Lane.
It’s believed the man left the Poverina pub at around 11.40pm before exiting onto Ormesby Road. Just 20 minutes later, the man is found with significant injuries to his jaw and he was taken to hospital.
Detective Constable Steve Emsley from Redcar and Cleveland CID said: “The victim has been spoken to and we have conducted extensive CCTV enquiries in the vicinity of the area but we are still trying to establish the circumstances of the incident.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the man walking towards Ormesby or any other person on the stretch of Ormesby Road between Cricket Lane and the Poverina between 11.40pm and midnight.
“Similarly, we believe a silver estate taxi stopped at the scene and spoke to the victim and we’d be keen to hear from this person as they may have information that could help our investigation.”
