We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a pursuit as a result of which a woman has been arrested.
At 4.48pm yesterday (21st November) our officers have come across a white Mercedes which was being driven suspiciously close to a tipper truck around Junction 2 of the M65.
Both vehicles have been followed, and after the vehicles have come off at Junction 7 of the M65 and headed into Rishton where a pursuit has started.
A blue Volkswagen Touareg has then attempted to block our police car from pursuing the tipper.
Efforts were made to stop this Touareg but that vehicle was being driven in such a dangerous and reckless manner that we called off the pursuit in order to protect the public and other road users.
A 19-year-old woman from Great Harwood – was arrested in Barrons Way, Great Harwood on suspicion of dangerous driving after a stinger was deployed. She remains in custody.
We would ask people who live in Rishton and Great Harwood to check their CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to see if they captured the pursuit or any vehicles involved.
This behaviour will not be tolerated on the roads of Lancashire and work is ongoing to identify and arrest the other motorists involved.
Email or call 101, quoting log 956 of 21st November 2024.
