Man arrested and stolen property returned after York robbery

A man has been arrested after a robbery in York.

Just before 7pm on Monday 14 July, a member of the public reported seeing three male suspects attack a male victim on the path to St Barnabas Church on Jubilee Terrace in York.

North Yorkshire Police officers headed to the scene immediately.

The three suspects ran off into the nearby housing estate with the victim's rucksack, before throwing it into a nearby garden.

An 18-year-old man was arrested nearby.The teenage victim received a broken nose and cuts and bruises to his face.

The stolen rucksack was spotted by a member of the public in a nearby garden, and returned to its rightful owner.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses who saw the incident or the immediate aftermath.
