Just before 12.20am it was reported that a man in his 20s had suffered a gunshot wound to

the leg whilst he was with a group of friends in the area of Rupert Lane

Recreation Ground close to the carpark.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. An investigation

is underway and detectives are now appealing to anyone who was parked in the

area or who has footage of the incident to contact us.

Detective Inspector John Mullen said: “This was a frightening incident, and one which could have had fatal consequences to those targeted or indeed anyone who was on Rupert Lane.“ Thankfully the man will make a full recovery and our officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who was parked in the area or saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.
