We are appealing for the identity of a motorcyclist following a road traffic collision in Barnsley that left a woman with a broken neck.

On 20 September, just after midnight, emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist and a pedestrian on Peel Parade in Barnsley Town Centre. It is understood that a motorcyclist collided with a woman who was walking along the road. The rider of the motorcycle did not remain at the scene and fled prior to officers’ arrival.

The woman, aged in her 20s, suffered a broken neck and was taken to hospital. Officers have now shared a CCTV image of a man they are keen to identify in connection to the incident. Do you recognise him? The man is described as aged late teens to early twenties and of a slim build.

We are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or may have footage of the collision, or motorcyclists in the area at the time that can help us progress our inquiry.

If you can help, please get in touch online, via live chat or by calling 101 quoting incident number 18 of  20 September 2025.

Footage can be shared directly to us here.
