Yesterday (25 June) at 4.56pm emergency services attended Poplar Road following reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a stationary van on Lodge Road.

It is reported a white Volkswagen Golf collided with a parked white Citroen Relay van.

Officers and the ambulance service attended, and a six-year-old boy, a passenger within the Golf was taken to hospital, where he remains with serious, life-threatening injuries.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and further driving offences. He remains in custody.

The driver of the van is assisting with their enquiries. We are keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision, or the car prior to the collision.
