Officers are appealing for witnesses and any relevant dash cam footage after a collision on Ormesby Road in Middlesbrough.

Following a report that a red kia Sportage was taken from a property in Middlesbrough, Matrix officers were dispatched to locate it.

A pursuit took place before the vehicle came to a stop when it collided with some railings on Ormesby Road near the Berwick Hills roundabout at around 6.10am this morning (Sunday 7th December).

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without consent, failure to stop and drug driving. He remains in custody at this time.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with dash cam footage is urged to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 233715.
