Police are appealing for information and ring doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage after an 83-year-old man was robbed on his own doorstep by a man in Hartlepool.  

The victim had first noticed the man on a grassed area on Clifton Avenue at around 5pm as he was putting out

his bins.  The man then knocked at the victim’s door and asked him for some money for petrol.  The victim gave him some change and he left.  

At around 6pm, the suspect returned to his address and asked the victim for more money. As the victim pulled out his wallet, which was on a key chain, the suspect grabbed his wallet, ripping it from the chain, then pushed the victim back into his house.   

He then made off down Clifton Avenue in the direction of St Paul’s Road.  Anyone with information or footage is asked to call 101, or upload footage by clicking on this link:
